Aquatic Programs

 

Cost for swim lessons is $24.00 for members and $48.00 for non-members.

Registration in-person begins at 8:00 a.m.  Phone registration 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. on dates listed.

PRESCHOOL (ages 3-5) & YOUTH  (ages 6+) CLASSES WILL ALTERNATE MONTHS. 

January: Pre-School lessons (ages 3-5)
Class dates are 1/9, 1/11, 1/16, 1/18, 1/23, 1/25
 
Registration for lessons starts 12/30 for members & 12/31 for non-members.

February: Youth lessons (ages 6+)
Class dates are 2/13, 2/15, 2/20, 2/22, 2/27, 2/29
Registration for lessons starts 2/3 for members & 2/4 for non-members.

March: Pre-school lessons (ages 3-5)
Class dates are 3/12, 3/14, 3/19, 3/21, 3/26, 3/28
Registration for lessons starts 3/2 for members & 3/3 for non-members.

April: Youth lessons (ages 6+)
Class dates are 4/9, 4/11, 4/16, 4/18, 4/23, 4/25
Registration for lessons starts 3/30 for members & 3/31 for non-members.

Lifeguard Training
Once certified, you will be able to lifeguard at any pool.  Course includes certification in American Red Cross, Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, First Aid.

** Contact Chris Tapler, Aquatics Director, at 249-2177 or chris@lexingtonymca.com to set up your pre-course screening.

Pre-course consists of:
   - 300 yd swim, any stroke with goggles
   - 100 yd breast stroke, 100 yd side stroke without goggles
   - Tread water for 2 minutes
   - Swim 20 yds, retrieve a 10 lb. brick from 10 ft. and swim back
     20 yds.

Fees
Lifeguarding: members $175.00, others $200.00
Lifeguarding re-certification: $75.00
CPR/AED recertification: $35.00

Stingray Swim Team

 
The Aquatics Department is proud to announce that we have started our own swim teams for 5-10 and 11-18 age groups.  Coaches are swimmers from the High Point University Swim Team.

Registration began at the Y on September 1.  The annual registration fee is $75 for all and monthly fees are $45 for members and $65 for non-members.

Projected run times will be October 1, 2011 through the last week of May 2012.  Practice times for age group 5-10 is on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. and for age group 11-18 on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 7-8 p.m.

Prerequisite for Team 5-10: Must be able to swim 3 competitive strokes (freestlye, backstroke, & breaststroke).  Need goggles, fins, & a proper competitive swimsuit.

Prerequisite for Team 11-18: Must be able to complete 50 yards of all 4 competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly). Need goggles, fins, and a proper competitive swimsuit.

Aquatic Fitness
Aerobic and resistance intervals are combines in a unique and fun-filled workout.

Super 60's

This water class is specially designed to improve joint flexability, muscular endurance and range of motion while reducing joint pain and stiffness.  Perfect for the older participant but any age adults are welcomed!

Aqua Fitness Saturday "On the Beach"
Playing your favorite beach music and rhythm & blues
Join us for a powerful total body workout in the water that will push your strength and endurance to the next level.  This class is an excellent aquatic workout for beginners to advanced participants. 

 Note:  Non-members use the family program participant locker rooms, not the adult member’s locker rooms.



Birthday Parties
This is a fun and exciting way to spend your birthday. A lifeguard is provided for you and your guests in the pool and a program room is provided for you to serve refreshments to your guests after they swim.  Both areas are available for an hour each. 

Cost for members of the YMCA is $90.00, all others are $110.00.  There is a 20 person group limit ($5 for each additional person over 20).  Rate includes lifeguard, tables, and chairs.  Please call the YMCA Aquatics Director to book your party today.


Storm Closing Policy
The pool will be closed during thunderstorms and for a period of 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder.  This is for the safety of members and program participants.
