Afterschool Discovery Program and Support Our Students What is ASDP? The Afterschool Discovery Program is school age child care each school day from the time school dismisses until 6:00pm. The program is based in local schools except Southwest, Pickett, and South Lexington which are based at the YMCA facility and will operate daily except for holidays and days when there is no school due to weather. On these days care may be provided at the YMCA. Care will also be available on teacher work days and days when school dismisses early.
Support Our Students The SOS program is a part of our Afterschool Program that serves Lexington Middle, Central Davidson Middle, and Charles England School sites. SOS is a program that receives a grant from the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention that helps with staff training, staffing, supplies and activities. Support Our Students provides a safe, fun, learning environment for older school age children.
Operating Schedule ASDP will meet in accordance with the school year schedule. ASDP will operate daily from school dismissal until 6:00pm. Teacher work days: The site supervisor will inform you of whether you meet at the school site or at the YMCA. The program will not operate on the following days: Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Good Friday. On days when all day care is provided, care will begin at 6:30am at the YMCA, or as early as 7:30am at school sites. Pick-up time will still be no later than 6:00pm.
